I wanted to reimagine what it meant to see in Black. for so long, the stories and visuals of Blackness, specifically for men, have been told in a way that was not their own. it posed the question, am I being seen? and at what cost?
the barbershop is a home for many, a place of comfort and vulnerability. bringing this project to life as a pop up gallery, Iām beyond thrilled that this could be showcased in the heart of the Black community: the local barbershop.
so enjoy the visual, then enter the (virtual) gallery. cheers to being seen. to overcoming. to blooming despite it all. cheers to Black promises. thank you.
